CPC Fund VI Announces MaineToday Media Acquisition
Carson Private Capital Fund VI, LP has announced its participation in HM Capital's formation of MaineToday Media, Inc. to acquire news media assets and associated real estate located in Maine from The Seattle Times Company in a transaction valued at $30 million.
The MaineToday assets include four newspapers (Portland Press Herald, Kennebec Journal (Augusta, Maine), Waterville Sentinel and The Coastal Journal) and an online local information portal (MaineToday.com). MaineToday also owns significant associated real estate assets.
HM Capital has extensive knowledge and experience within the media sector, having invested in over 100 media acquisitions since 1989 representing over $20 billion of enterprise value, which have generated realized average returns equal to 1.9x and 22% IRR.
This transaction represents the eighth platform investment for CPC Fund VI.
